Thomas Piketty?

Don’t get what he’s saying?

Not sure you care?

Zach, who is back, and Maddie, who has never left tell us what is important about the writings of this economist

Or maybe not.

Dr. Piketty wrote one of the more controversial book of the past 10 years.  Maddie will tell you why.

And “R” makes and appearance.  But not “G”.

hwms.coverart

Life is busy.

There’s no time to read.

Or view YouTube videos.

Or even listen to podcasts.

So Maddie, the 8 year old entrepreneur an Bix, the Master Scrum Master, give you a thorough overview of Clayton Christensen’s masterwork, the Innovators Dilemma.

It is perhaps the most influential business book of our age.  It was the centerpiece of the late Dr. Christensen’s career.  It’s important cultural icon.

And, of course, Bix hasn’t read it.

And Maddie has read it too well.

Why Do We Code? (Computer Science Week)

hwms.coverart Why do we need to learn to code? Really. Can’t we just get an app and be done with it? A bunch of tech people are giving us a bunch of reasons to do it but they are, in all honesty, silly. Fix a web page? Add a function to your spreadsheet? Have these people never heard of the law of comparative advantage? In this episode, reposted from Computer Science Week, Maddie, our model of the perfect CEO gets to the point. We need to learn to code because that is how we now think. We live in a world of programs and code. Hence we need to understand what programs and code do to our thinking. Featuring:
  • Zoe Anastassiou as Maddie the CEO
  • Noah Masur as Rohit from IT

A CEO Prepares for Her Board

hwms.coverart Ok. Maddie is a bit unusual in the world of CEOs but she still needs to be ready for the politics of her Board. They’re not going to agree with her just because she has a clever tech idea and good presentation. You have to be ready. You have to think. [17218] Cast:

Bits & People

hwms.coverart It’s like a blind date. Only worse. With a date you have the presence of hope shackled only by the vaguest of required qualifications. But like a date, a tech company staff has to be created today with the changing future ever in mind. And the results are not always pretty. Maddie is hiring the staff for her startup with Vinny receiving, but not approving, her ideas. Steps are tentative. Plans are in process. Perhaps the worse part of it is that she is trying to launch a new service and isn’t completely clear about how that service will organize her customers – or her community, if you wish to take an idealist view of things. In the process, Maddie has to face her old nemesis and ask “How does a real CEO behave?” [17145] Cast:
