All Gone Wrong

hwms.coverart

A way to build trust.

A simple public talk at a sympathetic organization.

But there were protestors. And a badly prepared speech. And a host who didn’t seem to realize what was happening.

Abby Alton, CEO of Talking and Shopping, addresses the public and finds herself backed into a corner when all goes wrong.

The sixteenth episode of the Audio Drama “What Big Tech Doesn’t Know.”

How Not To [Suck] At Consulting: Act 3

hwms.coverart A bad decision. A confrontational meeting. Perhaps the worst first date ever, though one participant (and perhaps both) will deny that it was, is, or should ever be considered a date. A niece coming from a conference on Electronic Dance Music. Consulting gets tricky when you set it in context.  You’ve done the plans.  You know the requirements.  You’re ready to start writing your report.  And yet, you continue to find things that you don’t understand. Consulting is about control – or at least determining what you can control and trying to find a way that you can ignore the rest. And what is the proper business dress for a rising music producer? The third act of our story on technology consulting. Cast:
  • Kit, Director of Consulting – Kit Kuksenok
  • Evelyn, the Business Manager – Margaux Amie
  • Anna the Intern – Sarah Corbyn Woolf
  • Arndt, Rohit –  Noah Masur
  • Klara, Florian’s Niece – Sahara Ale
  • Florian Bohne  – Josh LaForce
  • Peter, Fritz-Bernard – Ron Bianchi
  • Sonja Pfeiffer, Ida – Debbon Ayer
  • Vinny – Geoffrey Grier

When the Client Leaves the Premises

hwms.coverart  You don’t, and that”s the point.   We have a company. We have a consulting team. And we believe we have a client, though it would seem that the client is not sure that he would have us. Days after the HWMS team arrived at BKL, it’s owner decided to go hiking in the Swiss Alps. It could be the confidence of a secure leader. It could be a brilliant strategy to get a new perspective on the business. It could also be a poor choice by a misguided manager. We take a moment to get the owner’s point of view as he walks with his friends in the Alps. A short episode to give us a little insight into the challenges of tech consulting. Cast:
  • Florian, the Client  – Josh LaForce
  • Ida, Friend of Florian  – Debbon Ayer
  • Max, Friend of Florian – Jake Minevich

Bits & People

hwms.coverart It’s like a blind date. Only worse. With a date you have the presence of hope shackled only by the vaguest of required qualifications. But like a date, a tech company staff has to be created today with the changing future ever in mind. And the results are not always pretty. Maddie is hiring the staff for her startup with Vinny receiving, but not approving, her ideas. Steps are tentative. Plans are in process. Perhaps the worse part of it is that she is trying to launch a new service and isn’t completely clear about how that service will organize her customers – or her community, if you wish to take an idealist view of things. In the process, Maddie has to face her old nemesis and ask “How does a real CEO behave?” [17145] Cast:

Vinny the CTO: Geoffrey Grier

Evelyn the Business Manager: Margaux Amie
